Meredith Ann Brooks (born June 12, 1958 in Oregon City, Oregon, USA) is an American singer/songwriter and guitarist. She grew higher inside Corvallis. When graduating from either Corvallis High School at age Fifteen around 1974, she worked in the Pacific Northwest music scene, performing and making independent records.
In the early Eighties, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue further her career within music. At that period, she recorded a songs that late appeared in See It Through My Eyes. In the late Eighties & early Nineties, she was the member of The Graces, which recorded one album A Perfect View in 1989.
In the wake up of the tremendous profits of Alanis Morissette in 1995, Brooks landed a major label locate Capitol Records. Her 1st individual, "Bitch", became a 1997 hit and garnered her the nomination for the Grammy Award for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance. Her album Blurring the Edges achieved platinum sales and peaked at Xxii on the Billboard 200. She toured around a The states & Europe in 1997 & 1998 to trend lines the album.
Brooks recorded her 2nd major album Deconstruction in 1999. It was the stylistic & thematic shift out of Blurring the Edges. Due to a flood of records by female musicians at a instance & the record label's guide to own her tour around Europe instead of promoting in a America, the album tanked. She originally wrote a song "Sin City", which appears on this album, for the picture Snake Eyes, directed by her friend Brian De Palma.
Around 2002, Brooks worked in her third solo album Bad Bad One on Gold Circle Records, an independent label. Immediately when releasing a album, a label folded & prevented a record from either incurring promoted or even achieving tremendously of any sales. A label's death as well prevented her from either running on the road by having Melissa Etheridge that summer. Besides inside 2002, Brooks produced Jennifer Love Hewitt's album, BareNaked, and appeared on the VH1 Divas Las Vegas program as a guest guitar soloist with Celine Dion and Anastacia.
Inside 2004, Brooks signed a newly locate the SLG Records label and freed the material of Bad Bad One as Shine. Television psychologist Dr. Phil chose the song "Shine" as the theme for his show.
